The Asheville Art Museum was established by artists and was incorporated in 1948. It is a non-profit organization and is the only organization providing cultural and educational experience for visitors.

The aSHEville Museum is the first women's cultural museum in the southeast United States. It is located near the Grove Arcade

Asheville Pinball Museum is located across the street from the Grove Arcade. The pinball machines ranging from 1966 to 2014. There is an admission fee but you can play over 20 machines for as long as you like. Also several of the pinball marchines are for sale.

A popular attraction at Grovewood Village is the Antique Car Museum, established in 1966 by Harry Blomberg - Asheville’s Cadillac-Pontiac dealer for over half a century and founder of modern day "Harry’s on the Hill". The museum is home to several antique and vintage automobiles that Harry and his dealership had come to own over time, including a rare 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham (only 400 made) and Asheville’s own 1922 American LaFrance fire truck.

As you enter the rustic iron gate at Grovewood you will discover the art, craft, history, and Old World charm.This historic site once housed the weaving and woodworking operations of Biltmore Industries. It is on 11-acres and now houses artists studios, sculpture garden, the Biltmore Industries Homespun Museum and Asheville's only antique car museum.

Leisurely walk and enjoy the beautifully landscaped sculpture gardens. Visit a working artist's studio and discover a collection of rare automobiles from years past.

The Southern Appalachian Radio Museum is located in the Elm Building Room 315 at AB Tech Campus. The Southern Appalachian Radio Museum exhibits range from Atwater Kent, Philco, Silvertone, Edison phonographs, Crosley, Hammarlund, Harvey Wells, test instruments, spark gap transmitters, keys, ancient QSL cards and more!

The Folk Art Center is home to the Southern Highland Craft Guild. The Folk Art Center is located at Milepost 382 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Folk Center features traditional and contemporary crafts of the Southern Appalachians. There are many one of a kind handmade items for sale. There are also daily craft demonstrations and visitors are invited to watch the artists create their pieces and talk about their craft.

Thomas Wolfe is best know for his autobiographical novel, Look Homeward, Angel.

Because Thomas Wolfe's writing of his memories growing up in the boarding house were so frank and realistic his book Look Homeward, Angel was banned from Asheville's public library for more than 7 years when it was first printed.
